Mosa One, from the exhibition series The Labours and Challenges of Encounter, Abbey of San Paolo d’Argon, Bergamo. ‘To Go Beyond’: an exhibition and breathtaking setting reignite the debate surrounding contemporary art beyond conventional spaces. This is the intention of artist Mosa One, who returns with renewed force to bring the challenges of the present into focus through The Labours and Challenges of Encounter exhibition series, held at the Abbey of San Paolo d’Argon in Bergamo. Passports, colours, doves and Arabic inscriptions become symbols of freedom of expression. Where do borders lie? On maps? Or in our minds? The artist invites viewers to embrace “the other”, overcome barriers, and engage with that which is not immediately comprehensible. It is an invitation to look beyond, move past polarisation and rigid categories, and challenge the fears that arise from encountering the unfamiliar.
