The Biennale: a user’s guide

The event included talks aimed at raising public awareness of decolonisation, with a focus on the situation in Palestine. During the meeting, the role of artistic institutions – such as the Venice Biennale – within this context was discussed. I took part in a talk that analysed Adriano Pedrosa’s approach to the 60th International Art Exhibition: initially conceived as radical disorder, but later transformed into a domesticated, Eurocentric version. Through a glossary inspired by Fanon, Vergès, Quijano and others, critical questions were addressed and a rereading of the 2024 Biennale was proposed.
