The uprooted uproot; the rooted do not uproot
CONCEPT
Being Barbarians and claiming it: the project offers a critical reading of the racial and social dynamics present in the neighbourhood, highlighting how marginalised communities can proudly reclaim their “barbaric” or “savage” identity in opposition to the values imposed by the dominant society. It underlines the importance of an alliance between white working-class groups and racialised communities, aimed at challenging the “racial totalitarian state” and promoting radical social transformation. The project sets out to explore the possibilities of building solidarity among different groups in order to undermine the foundations of structural racism.
